The Parish Council Domains Helper Service Briefing for Councillors

Mon, 4th Nov 2024 14:00

Councillors are invited to join this FREE event, hosted by CALC to find out more about moving to a .gov.uk domain on Monday 4 November 2024, 2pm

This year's JPAG Practitioners' Guide underscores the importance of operating a .gov.uk domain for your council's business - how it demonstrates good practice and professionalism, and ensures your community understands implicitly that any communication from you is legitimate and safe to open.

The Parish Council Domains Helper Service has been set up by central government to help aspiring parish councils move successfully to a .gov.uk domain. In this session, representatives of the Helper Service will talk to councillors about the benefits of operating a .gov.uk domain, the costs associated with making the move, and the funding that is available to all eligible councils in this financial year 24/25.

They will also provide an overview of the practical help - through working sessions and accompanying guides - that is available through the Parish Council Domains Helper Service. Importantly, they will also address issues such as the reputational and cyber risks that come with poor digital practices, and how adopting new ways of working in a .gov.uk domain can protect and enhance a council's reputation.

This year, the Parish Council Domains Helper Service is offering a wide range of support to all councils moving over to a .gov.uk domain. Don't let your council miss out on this opportunity to access step-by-step support, technical hand-holding, and funding designed to offset the initial costs of setting up a .gov.uk domain.
